*Pete Richter tells Bay Times, "I believe in the law and the law is upside down in this country. Somebody needs to stand up for the little man. Somebody needs to have the law enforced with justice." Click here to see the rest of the article!
*The brother of the current Sheriff has been arrested on charges on sexual assault, after having been demoted by Sheriff Hoffman several months ago. The charges assert the sexual assault occurred a year ago. This is just one example of the kind of favoritism Pete Richter wants to protect Queen Anne's County citizens from. Meet Pete Richter:

Charles (Pete) E. Richter Jr. is running for Sheriff of Queen Anne's County to protect its citizens from corruption, favoritism, and abuse of power within the Police department. He is running as the candidate for the Constitution Party of Maryland, despite mishaps with the Board of Elections losing and then finding his filing papers (click here for more details)! What motivates Pete Richter to run for Sheriff is clearly stated in this Letter to the Editor, published in the Bay Times on October 13th, 2010.
Pete Richter is a thirteen-year resident of Queen Anne's County and is a decorated, retired Baltimore City police officer who hit the bricks on foot in 1965 in the Eastern District ghetto. Pete will expose the corruption that flourishes in our county. His Sheriff's Department will follow the law and work for the people of this county, not the elite good old boys and girls. Deputies will learn how to talk to the public and how to lead by example, not by arrogance. All laws will be enforced equally for all citizens, regardless of financial status, race, age, sex, etc.
Message from Pete:
"My name is Pete Richter, and I'm not a professional politician. I'm a retired decorated Baltimore cop who knows and understands our laws, the Constitution, and I intend to protect and defend your rights when elected Sheriff of Queen Anne's County.
"I'm in the race for JUSTICE. Not only for me and my family, but for the citizens of this corrupt county. There are drugs in every school, and cops set up road blocks for seat belt violations. A double standard of justice exists in our court system in Centreville. Good old boys go free while the hard working average citizen pays. The youth in our county are profiled, and then harassed for the slightest infraction while serious crimes go unattended. We're told that speed kills while the cops fly down the highway 80 mph immune to prosecution. The good cops see no light at the end of the tunnel, and are embarrassed by the protected conduct of the bad cops. This need to change in order for the citizens to have the best protection possible.
"We deserve better and I'm ready to implement and enforce positive adjustments. When you see me on the street or at an event with my guitar in tow, please come up and say hi and let me know what I can do as sheriff to help you feel more fairly treated and protected in Queen Anne's County.
"Remember friends: The Constitution was written to protect the citizens from the government. It's time for the people to stand up and be counted. I believe in God, I say Merry Christmas, and I will insure that every citizen's rights are protected. Illegals will be arrested and charged."
Left to right: Undercover narcotics officer, Cop Killer Johnny Earl Williams, Officer Pete Richter. Arrest made after fierce gun battle during which one officer was shot dead and four others were wounded. Gun smoke filled the air at Carey & Lombard Street in Baltimore on April 17, 1976.
